DAC.SI Project by Repsol Sinopec Brasil and PUCRS selected as Winner for the 2025 ANP Technology Innovation Award

Recognition for pioneering work in CO₂ removal with DACMA technology
Rio de Janeiro, December 5, 2025 — The DAC.SI Project, submitted by Repsol Sinopec Brasil (RSB)and the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS), has been selected as the winner in the category “Environment and Reduction of Environmental Impacts” at the 2025 ANP Technology Innovation Award ceremony.
The award ceremony, held at THEATER PRIO in the Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro, annually honors outstanding R&D and technology initiatives that represent technological advancements of interest to the sector and make a significant contribution to reducing environmental impacts.
First 300-TPA DAC System in South America Marks a Technological Milestone
At the center of this recognition is the first 300-TPA Direct Air Capture (DAC) system installed in South America, operated by PUCRS as part of the DAC.SI Project with RSB as project partner. The technological core components were supplied by DACMA GmbH from Germany.
Special recognition is given to the Direct Air Capture technology developed by the German company DACMA GmbH, whose system forms a central foundation for the successful implementation of the DAC.SI Project. The facility is also the first of its kind in all of South America.
Since late 2024, the system has been capturing approximately 300 tons of CO₂ per year directly from the atmosphere. The project represents an important step toward scaling negative emission technologies within Brazil’s energy sector.
